Because of the size and weight of the chassis, use at least two people to safely lift and move it without causing injury to yourself or damaging the equipment. Ensure that your footing is solid, and balance the weight of the chassis between your feet. Lift the chassis slowly; never move suddenly or twist your body as you lift. Keep your back straight and lift with your legs, not your back.

If you must bend down to lift the chassis; bend at the knees, not at the waist, to reduce the strain on your back muscles. Do not remove any installed components from the chassis. Always disconnect all external cables before lifting or moving the chassis. Caution If you are using a two-post rack, secure the rack to the floor surface to prevent tipping and avoid bodily injury and component damage. Attach the Cable-Management Bracket Attach the cable-management bracket to each rack-mount bracket on the chassis.

Caution The dual-lug chassis stud must be installed, and the SIP and SPA must be fully inserted, screwed in, and earthed to prevent a potential hazard in a telecom line. Caution The grounding wire is always the first to be installed or connected and the last to be removed or disconnected. Connect the Router to the Network This section provides information about cables and ports and attaching the router to the network.

Caution Both the console port and the auxiliary port are asynchronous serial ports; devices connected to these ports must be capable of asynchronous transmission. To meet Class A emission requirements on the Cisco ASR Router, shielded cables must be used for the console port and auxiliary port connections. Caution To comply with Class A emission requirements, a shielded Ethernet cable must be used. This workflow involves three steps—add, activate, and commit.

After activation, all cards are upgraded to new software version except that the software is not committed automatically but must be performed manually via the install commit command. The advantage of this approach is the system can be rolled back to a previous software version. The system automatically rolls back if the roll back timer is not stopped using the install abort-timer-stop command.

If the roll back timer is stopped, the new software version could be run on the device for any duration and then roll back to the previous version. The upgrade time is faster because this workflow involves two reloads only. There are three reloads involved in this workflow. In this workflow, the upgraded software is available on the active RP for sometime allowing you to validate the software before committing the upgrade.

In addition to this the rollback to previous version is much faster because there is already an earlier version of the software on the standby RP. This workflow helps in optimization and saving a reload. You cannot roll back as the upgrade is committed automatically. The subpackage upgrade can be performed in either a single step or using multiple steps. This document discusses both methodologies. The sequence for a subpackage upgrade is as follows:.

The following table provides information about different commands used for super package upgrade before and after Cisco IOS XE Fuji Not required.
